How is Sacrifice Used in the Hunger Games
There are many different situations in the hunger games where Katniss is put into certain positions where she has to fend for herself and provide for her and the family.
For example When Katniss’s dad passed away, this caused Katniss’s mother to be greatly depressed and immediately stopped being caring the parent that she used to be. Katniss was then left to provide food and items for her mother and sister (primrose).
This tested Katniss’s ability because she was at the age of 12 which meant that she hadn’t fully understood the role of parents and how to keep her family alive although her dad taught her how to hunt and gain food, she still had a huge pair of shoes to full. This taught Katniss how to survive in these situations, which helped her learn some valuable ways of survival if she was ever put into a life threatening situation like when she went to the games and had an advantage because she already knew how to make a bow and arrow & all she needed to find was wood.
Another skill that helped her to survive was gathering food and knowing what types of food are poisonous and what are edible like at the end of the book where Katniss and Peeta got announced that only one of them could win, they were about to eat the poisonous berries when Katniss realised these berries would actually kill them if they ate them.

Real Life Examples Of Survival
A real life example of a survival story is in the movie “127 hours” which is based on a true story .The main character Aron Ralston prepares for a day of canyoneering where his arm ends up getting pinned against a wall, trapping him. To survive Aron has to self-amputate his arm with a blunt pocket knife in order to save himself from dying in the canyon.
